'60s pastiche past masters The Loves return in the new year with their final album, ...Love You, the culmination of a decade long career for musical lynchpin Simon Love and an ever-changing support cast that has spawned a string of delightfully throwaway singles and four patchier but ultimately likeable records. Despite a vocal on latest effort 'December Boy' that sounds uncannily like a female version of Jake Shillingford from sub-Pulp Britpoppers My Life Story, the elegiac swoon of the melodies and wall-of sound production make this another pleasant, if un-challenging 3-minute diversion. They've still got their wicked sense of humour too; the new record was almost called 'The Pains of Being Poor Through Art'! If only!
